Basmati Rice name comes with Bas & Mati, ‘Bas’ in Hindi language means “aroma” and ‘Mati’ means “full of” hence the word Basmati i.e. full of aroma. Basmati rice comes with Long grain & extra long grain, have aroma before cooking, during cooking and after cooking, with good taste, fluffy, slender & non-sticky grains after cooking. Basmati rice elongates almost twice & thrice upon cooking but does not fatten much. Basmati rice can be sourced from India and Pakistan, but Indian Basmati Rice is traditionally considered to be premium rice. In India, Basmati rice are grown in northern regions, mainly in Punjab, Haryana, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand since thousands of years. Basmati Rice is available in Brown Rice, Raw Rice or White Rice, Steam Rice, Sella Rice or Parboiled Rice & Golden Sella Rice.
